Breastfeeding mum goes viral with photo showing how her milk changed after her baby became sick
'THIS is why I breastfeed!'
A mum has gone viral after demonstrating how her breast milk changed to help her baby fight off an illness.
Taking to Facebook, Paige Peterson uploaded a picture of a batch of frozen milk alongside a sachet of fresh milk, but they were different colours.
'Raina tested positive for flu this past weekend. I didn't believe the nurse when she told me because she hasn't had any symptoms of flu that I have noticed,' she wrote.
'The frozen milk on the left is from 2 weeks ago. The frozen milk on the right is from this past weekend when her swab came back positive. Notice the change in colour?
'My breast milk created antibodies to fight off any infections that Raina may have had. I never gave her Tamiflu.'
Totally amazed by what had happened, Paige went on to encourage other mothers not to give up with breastfeeding, even though they might find it tough.

'THIS is why I breastfeed!' she continued.
'If you're a new mom and can breastfeed, please be patient and seek help if you need it. Breastfeeding is SO important for our babies.'
Paige shared the status last week and it's already amassed an impressive 42,600 shares.
As the post gained traction, one fellow mother was excited to reveal that her body adapted in the same way when her youngest started to show signs of contracting a virus.
'I too saved my 7 week old baby from getting bad symptoms from the flu! My whole house had it and she was only febrile with fever of 101f for one day,' she said.
'My 7 yo was sick with high fever and headache and body aches for 3 days plus a week of residual problems. I almost ended up giving her my breast milk too. Amazing what our bodies do for our babies to keep them alive and healthy!'
