Ed Sheeran stars in a new Heinz TV advert - and fans are loving it
Will you be grabbing some 'Edchup'?
Any Ed Sheeran fan will know just how much he loves Heinz Ketchup, and now he’s had the chance to star in his very own advert.
The 28-year-old singer admits to carrying a bottle everywhere when he’s out and about, and he even has a tattoo of their logo. Now that’s dedication. Turns out, Ed likes ketchup on pretty much everything he eats.
He took this to the next level in an advert pitch to Heinz, which he sent to them via a Twitter DM. He reached out to the company writing ‘Yo Heinz I have an idea for a tv ad if you wanna do one, if not I won’t be offended, I could never be mad at you.’
‘Slide in my DMs or have your people call my people. Lots of love, your biggest fan x’
The idea came to him when he was dining in a ‘super posh’ restaurant, describing it as ‘the type of place with chandeliers, paintings on the wall, and too many forks on the table’.

In the minute-long advert, the singer acts out the scenario he described, narrating the actual DM he sent to the much-loved company. When he’s served his fancy food, Ed says ‘The food looked good, I just thought there was something missing.’

Then, you guessed it; he pulls out a bottle of Heinz Tomato Ketchup and proceeds to smother it all over his food, much to the shock of the other diners.
Describing the advert, a source said ‘Over the years, Ed has experienced first hand how people can turn their nose up or scoff at asking for ketchup in posh restaurants but he wants to poke fun at how ridiculous that is.’
Fans absolutely love Ed’s first Heinz ad, including some famous faces. Singer Camila Cabello wrote ‘Me in every restaurant’ and DJ Bvd Kult replied with ‘Like if you’re waiting for the Ed Sheeran hit song “Ketchup” now’.
People have even taken to Twitter to share them buying the new ‘Edchup’, featuring a tomato wearing Ed’s signature glasses. We’re here for it.
